OBJECTS
The object of the Association is to promote the efficiency of The
Royal Dragoon Guards by;
a. relieving either generally or individually members
of the Association, or Past and Present serving members of The Royal
Dragoon Guards or its predecessor Regiments, who are in conditions
of illness, need, hardship or distress.
b. maintaining contact between past and present
members of the Regiment and allied Associations, fostering communication
and mutual friendship between them and providing for social gatherings
for them.
c. fostering esprit de corps, comradeship and the
welfare of the Regiment and maintaining and preserving its traditions.
MEMBERSHIP
Membership of The Royal Dragoon Guards Regimental Association, which
is free, is open to every man and his close kin, who have served,
or is serving, in The Royal Dragoon Guards or its predecessor Regiments.
Newsletters are published and distributed to members two or three
times a year. A Regimental Journal is produced annually and may
be ordered from Home Headquarters. Naturally a charge is made for
this.
BRANCHES OF THE ASSOCIATION AND REUNIONS
There are Branches of the Association which meet on a regular basis
in the following areas; Cumbria, London
& South East, Northern Ireland, Oxford, Wessex and York. A reunion
luncheon is held each year following the Combined Cavalry Memorial
Parade in London. The parade is usually held on the second Sunday
in May but full details are contained in the Newsletter.
