The Royal Dragoon Guards First World War Commemoration

15/16th August

Friday 15th August: A "Freedom of the City" march through York by the serving Regiment; a service of commemoration in York Minster; a VIP reception; and a Regimental Association lunch.

Saturday 16th August: The Regimental Association march with the last Standard of the 4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guards through York to the Pavement Church, where there will be a service to Lay Up the Standard permanently. In the evening, there will be a Regimental Association Reunion.


22nd/23rd August

 22nd August: A short ceremony at Casteau, Belgium, to commemorate the the first British action of the First World War by the 4th Royal Irish Dragoon Guards.

23rd August: A series of civic events in Mons, Belgium, to commemorate the Battle of Mons - first major battle of the First World War.

Tickets for the Colonel of the Regiment's VIP Reception in the Merchant Taylor's Hall York on 15th August (£12 per person) can be ordered from Home Headquarters.

Tickets for the Regimental Association Reunion Dinner in the
Beechwood Close Hotel on 16th August can be ordered from the York Branch OCA (£24 per person) (see booking form (.docx format)).

 Anyone interested in attending the events in Casteau and Mons on 22/23 August should contact Home Headquarters; please ensure that the subject line of all e-mails contains the phrase "RDG WWI Commemoration".
