Reflections of a Tank trooper (Retd) by Eric Johnston (Hard Back)

Reflections of a Tank trooper (Retd) by Eric Johnston (Hard Back)

A schoolboy when World War II started, 18 year-old Eric Johnston volunteered for The Royal Armoured Corps in his lunch break from the bank where he was serving an apprenticeship. After training he joined the tank crews of the 4/7 Royal Dragoon Guards and spent five years on active service as a trooper, and here he gives a fresh perspective on these historic times. While recounting his time in action from the D-Day landing to VE-Day, he puts emphasis on morale and the people he served with, comrades, officers and his Regiment.

Trooper Johnston returned to banking after the ward and became an area general manager with Trustee Savings Bank (Scotland) and is a Burgess of the City of Aberdeen.
